“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
Lucca Leadership was initially set up as a UK registered charity in 2002 by a group of talented and committed individuals who were from all over the world and a variety of backgrounds. Lucca expanded exponentially over the next few years, with independently governed charities being set up in Ireland (2004), Australia (2005), South Africa (2006), North America (2007), Macedonia and The Netherlands in 2009.
As the programmes became more popular, it was decided that having a central governing system could possibly limit each affiliate’s potential. In 2010, the trustees dissolved the UK charity and formed a separate body, the Foundation for Transformational Leadership (FTL) to localise governance and enable greater impact and autonomy for each of the affiliates so that they were free to whatever was needed wherever they were based.
The affiliates are led independently, each with their own brand and their own legal structure, some looked after by volunteers and some which function as full time enterprises. Regardless of the structure, size and impact of each of organisation, they continue to work from the same values, whether it is through short courses, weeklong programmes or any other way they can make a difference.
