Once upon a time (in 2006) Lucca Leadership SA was born to a small group of committed and passionate young volunteers. It soon became clear to the volunteers Lucca SA was going to grow bigger than they ever thought possible and so more people joined to help look after it as it just grew and grew.

By Lucca SA’s 3rd birthday it was time to get some bigger shoes. Admittedly the shoes were a bit big to start with, but with the help of the new team Lucca SA made its first steps as a social enterprise. Slowly but surely Lucca SA started getting traction.

Since 2006, we’ve run over 40 courses for over 1500 people who are now committed
to making a difference.

Those 1500 then pay it forward to their communities, their families, their friends, their work, their world. Our world. And our world gets better one person at a time.

The growth that has come about so far is because we are responding to the deep need for leaders who are aware, conscious and kind, across South Africa and throughout all of its brothers and sisters in our world.

Through a mix of generous donations, the time and efforts of our volunteers, combined with income generated through running courses for other organisations, all of our publicly available programmes are run consciously to include participants who are not in a position to pay for the training themselves. We believe that finance should never be a barrier for a candidate to attend a programme.

After just over 5 years of moving from a part-time volunteer led organisation to a fully fledged active social enterprise, we have decided that it’s time for our next great leap!

2012 onwards – A new chapter

As the demand for courses and training has grown both in South Africa and internationally, we decided to break through the structure that we’ve existed in and go global, incorporating all of our social enterprise aspects into a new structure organisation!

The goal of the organisation continues to be to develop transformational leaders. Leaders who serve the needs that they see around them, who make decisions that benefit the greater good, that know there is a time for cooperation and not just competition, that see that we are all part of one single human family, that know that everybody can make a difference and that if they wish to see a different world, that it must begin with them.

We are launching SunRunners as a training company – and the registered charity that has been Lucca SA will form the charity arm of this new adventure so that we can continue to run our projects with the vibrancy and diversity that South Africa offers, so that South Africa can be a lighthouse for transformational leadership across the globe.

Catalyst

Catalyst is an extraordinary opportunity for a group of high impact participants to attend a week-long programme in transformational and facilitative leadership with a one year development programme.

Catalyst exists to develop leaders’ capacity to create positive change, as well as the skills needed to share their learnings with all those around them through coaching and facilitation. This ‘pass-it-on’ approach ensures that with minimal resources, we can maximise our impact and trigger an on-going cycle of transformation as we are effectively training the leadership trainers.

Sunryse is a Dutch foundation consisting of a group of volunteers, led by a team of young professionals from various fields.

Sunryse wants to make a positive contribution to creating sustainable change in the world. We do this by strengthening personal leadership in young people. We train and coach them so that they can discover their talents and motivations and its vision further by developing practical leadership skills that enable these young people to influence society in a positive way

Our motivation is fueled by the happiness of the participants as they experience deeper insights into their own abilities and driving force.

Lucca Leadership Macedonia is the most recent (for now at least) established Lucca affiliate. It has an incredible story and we love every part of it. It is a story that is still developing, changing, growing and opening.

It begins in 2007 when the existence of Lucca was discovered by one curious pianist. After she experienced Lucca leadership programmes she shared the very strong and lasting impressions with a friend psychologist and a friend who was working for a big youth NGO in the Netherlands.

In the meantime a curious computer science student (then a high-school graduate) became aware of the existence of Lucca and her curiosity was tickled as well. She shared it with her friend the architect (then a high school graduate).

The pianist, the psychologist, the youth worker, the computer science student and the architect decided to make a dream come true.

Driven by the need for leadership in Macedonia, with the help and support of few other amazing, creative people they founded Lucca Leadership Macedonia on December 29th 2009. The best way to celebrate the beginning of the New Year.

Since then our story is writing itself, inspired by the openness, determination, personal development, good team work, perseverance, cooperation, trust and love of our team that keeps growing and expanding with every training that we give. And it grows not only in number.

We write the story of Lucca Leadership Macedonia little by little with a lot of passion!

Our Courses:

Whether you’re volunteering for a small grassroots community project, running a large organisation, creating art that inspires and uplifts or just lightening the lives of those around you, we’re looking for people who want to change the world in whatever way they can.

We empower people to make a difference in their communities. We specialise in facilitating courses that increase participants’ confidence, awareness and effectiveness in leading positive change in whatever environment they find themselves in.

The programmes offers these skills through highly innovative experiential tasks that are specifically designed for leadership training and development. The learning from these leadership experiences can then be implemented into the participant’s own lives, social projects, organizations and companies, thereby equipping them with the skills and confidence to see and meet the needs around them.

While many of our affiliates work with Course Directors that tailor-make programmes to specifically suit an organisation or group of people, there are four set programmes that are run internationally that are open for the public.

2 Days: Leadership in Action

This fully packed 2 day course offers a practical understanding of how leaders can bring about positive change for the benefit of those around them, it is a shorter version of the Leadership Foundations Programme and can be run residentially or otherwised depending on what is needed.

6 Days: Leadership Foundations

The Leadership Foundations Programme is a once in a life time opportunity to develop your confidence, skills and leadership effectiveness. If you want to make a difference in your community or in the world then this is the course for you. A 6-day program through which you can unleash your potential by gaining deep insights into your purpose in life, and by developing the skills required to lead effectively for the good of all.

6 Days: Catalyst:

This programs is for people who have attended the Leadership Foundations. Catalyst is a 6 day course on living and working as a leader. It builds on learning from Leadership Foundations and takes it to greater depths as well as covering exciting new areas.

You will learn to use the skills and insights you gained on Leadership Foundations on a daily basis, learning to live leadership. A greater amount of the content will be delivered by specialist lecturers. Included in this course is an opportunity for participants to get basic coaches training that has proven to be invaluable in their work going forward.

7 Days: Catalyst 2.0

This course is a combination of Leadership Foundations and Catalyst and specifically aimed at training trainers and leaders of influence. It is a 7 day programme that allows participants the opportunity to work on their own leadership journey as they would on Leadership Foundations, the skills necessary to coach and facilitate as they would on Catalyst as well as keeping participants updated with relevant new research and team tasks.

Here are some of the things that we look at on the courses:
