Lucca Leadership North America Team

Lucca Leadership North America Team:

John Boots, originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, moved to the United States in 2001 to attend the University of Notre Dame on an athletic scholarship.  It is at the University of Notre Dame, where John’s thirst to help others first took shape.  As a sophomore, John joined the Student International Business Council (SIBC) and quickly became the Director of the Global Development division.  As a director of this division, John managed a project in Haiti that developed ‘Bed Nets’ to help combat Malaria in the region, created an international debate competition to foster communication of pressing Global and Economic issues, helped to established a school in Kenya to teach women business skills needed for running a small business and organized teaching internships for a dozen SIBC students to go abroad to underserved populations to teach subjects such as English, History and Economics.  Upon graduation for the University of Notre Dame John began his professional career at the accounting firm KPMG while obtaining a Master’s in the Science of Accountancy at the University of Connecticut.  John is currently a Fund Manager at Walton Street Capital in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

John’s experience with Lucca Leadership dates back 6 years.  As the Chief Financial Officer of the SIBC at the University of Notre Dame, John helped to formalize the relationship between the SIBC and Lucca Leadership, establishing multiple scholarships for SIBC members to attend some of the initial Lucca Leadership week long  Leadershi Foundations course in Lucca, Italy.  Since that time John has attending multiple weekend  courses, both as a student at Notre Dame and as a coach. Along with Tim Munden and Dan Degen, John helped create Lucca Leadership North America and has since focused his efforts on the Financial and Taxation side of the organization.

A famous quote that John tries to live by is to ‘have your greatest passion meet the world’s greatest needs.’  Using his passion for finance and accounting, John applies this passion to the needs of Lucca Leadership and those who benefit from this organization.  While not everyone can devote as much time as others and not everyone may have the skills necessary to be a coach , it is important for all to know that no matter what their skills in life are, all can make a difference.  John encourages anyone who feels as though they have a strong connection with Lucca Leadership to see how they can get involved and see where their passion meets Lucca’s needs.

Evan Lintz graduated from the University of Notre Dame in January of 2009 with bachelor degrees in electrical engineering and economics.  While at Notre Dame, he was actively involved in the largest student-run organization on campus, the Student International Business Council (SIBC), eventually becoming the organization's President in 2008.  It is through the SIBC, whose mission is "Peace Through Commerce," that Evan first got involved with Lucca Leadership.  In the summer of 2006, he traveled to Lucca, Italy to participate in Lucca's Leadership Foundations Program and left Italy with a new sense of direction and motivation in life.  Since returning from the program, Evan has been actively involved with Lucca Leadership and assisted the organization in setting up its newest operations in North America.  Evan volunteers with Lucca Leadership mainly because he has seen the great things that Lucca Leadership can do for young people all over the world.  Every single participant he has talked to has left a Lucca program feeling inspired and ready to make a difference in the world.  It is seeing this transformation that has in turn inspired him to keep volunteering with Lucca Leadership and trying to create as many Lucca experiences for as many people possible.      Evan is responsible for building partnerships between Lucca Leadership North America and other organizations.  In addition to being a Director of Lucca Leadership North America, Evan also serves as the Co-Director of Social Enterprise for the International Business Council, which provides business consulting services to organizations in emerging markets.  He currently works as an analyst in J.P. Morgan's Tax-Exempt Capital Markets Group in Chicago, working mainly with government and non-profit organizations.

Russell Porter joined Lucca Leadership in mid-2005 as one of the founding directors of Lucca Leadership Australia.  Since then he has been a Lucca program participant, coach or staff member across three continents.  Russell grew up in Newcastle, Australia and after completing his undergraduate degree in Information Science moved to Sydney where he worked in the banking, consumer goods and retail industries.  Outside of work, Russell has a very keen interest in using his business skills and knowledge to improve lives around the world.  To this end, he has volunteered for and consulted to the William J. Clinton Foundation in Mozambique, The Africa Conservation Trust in Kenya, and Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) in South Africa.  Russell is currently a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) student at The Wharton School in Philadelphia and will graduate in 2010.

Andrew Morris recognized the powerful impact and potential of Lucca Leadership during his attendance at  the Leadership  Foundations Program  in Italy in the summer of 2005. The servant leadership mentality echoed his own personal mantra of leadership, as was seen through his direct involvement with leadership teams, sports, professional organizations, and others during his high school and college years. After attending the Leadership Foundations Program, the personal drive and fire for true leadership was lit--and is still a driving force in  Andrew's professional and personal endeavors. In college, that entailed leading the Student International Business Council, creating and running a
business through the school's Entrepreneurship program,   and securing
such speakers as Ambassadors from the United Nations. All of this with the ultimate goal of trying to fulfill Lucca's vision of leadership.

After successful completion of a International Business degree, Andrew stayed at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS to pursue his Masters in Business Administration. Andrew has always had a very strong desire to succeed and lead within the business world--and  a desire to transform the current greed-driven environment within it is only pushing him harder. With his MBA obtained in August of 2009, Andrew moved to Phoenix, AZ to take the next small step of starting his career with New England Financial.

While Andrew greatly hopes to increase his involvement with Lucca Leadership North America, he currently serves on the Board of Directors.
Within this role , Andrew is able to serve as an advisor, planner, and supporter of the Lucca Leadership North America team that is working hard daily to bring courses and  events to areas throughout North America.

Andrew greatly appreciates the opportunity to assist with the growth of Lucca Leadership North America, and can answer simply the question of why did he accept this position--because it is an opportunity to do something good for others, while also helping him obtain the necessary set of skills and mindset needed to succeed further in all aspects of his life.
